Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY) is an evidence-based, adjunctive clinical treatment endorsed by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMSHA.) It is the only yoga program of it’s kind to be named an empirically validated methodology for using mindful movement techniques to facilitate the healing process of complex post traumatic stress symptoms, or chronic, treatment-resistant PTSD.

Intention of TCTSY: to facilitate a safe space for survivors to perhaps engage in mindful movement practice, experience shared power dynamics in relationship between facilitators and participants, and possibly explore choice-making and your individual felt-sense of experience during your TCTSY practice.

What to expect from your TCTSY session:

.Facilitators use invitational language to cue exploration of yoga shapes & forms.

.Facilitators offer choices, including the choice to explore shapes & forms not being offered.

.Facilitators offer gentle invitational cues to explore interoception, or the internal cues of body sensations as you transition through different shapes and forms during your practice.

.Facilitators do not offer physical assists or walk around the room during the practice. Facilitators practice in their own space alongside participants to cultivate a shared authentic experience.

While TCTSY has been intentionally developed as an adjunctive clinical treatment to support healing of complex post traumatic stress symptoms, almost anyone can benefit from this gentle and supportive form of yoga. You might find TCTSY to be supportive of anxiety, depression or other mental distress.

TCTSY is accessible to all regardless of physical ability. No prior yoga experience is required.
